I don’t know how you guys do it, but these tours keep getting better and better. This last tour was easily the best one I’ve been on with CTC (this was the tenth!). You did a fantastic job of organizing /planning /arranging… …it could not have been better.

The hotels were superb. You did an amazing job with the hotels.

The schedule/itinerary was also superb.

The students were delighted to be the first in line, to not have to wait, and to have terrific transportation everywhere we went.

I do have two complaints: 1) it rained for 90 minutes in Venice. And 2) I actually saw TWO CLOUDS in the sky in Rome. Can’t you fix these things?

Many, many thanks again for a terrific tour. Oh, and Johan is my new favorite guide. He is now #1, and he’s agreed—to be our guide for England/Scotland next year.– JIM 2011

Tour Ideas

The tours listed below are just a few samples of the type of cultural journeys you can take in Italy – but the possibilities are limitless! We can create a tour around your group’s specific passion and ensure it is enriched by all the unique venues Italy has to offer!

Art & Architecture Tour to the Region of Veneto

Stay in the enchanting cities of Venice and Verona and take day trips to medieval Padua and Renaissance Vicenza to study the wealth of art and architecture of Veneto. Study topics can include architecture, painting, and sculpture such as: Byzantine, medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Neo-classical, modern, and contemporary. The Renaissance architecture of Andrea Palladio in Padua is a special feature of this tour with visits to his villas, palaces, and famous theater. You will see works by great Italian painters and sculptors in their original settings; including Giotto, Giovanni Bellini, Giorgione, Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese, and Tiepolo. Works of the modern masters of Brancusi, Chagall, Modigliani, Max Ernst, Picasso, Braque, Rothko can be studied at the Guggenheim. Also of interest are sculptures by Donatello, Sansovino and Vittorio.

Choral Performance Tour

A choir tour to Italy can include performances at two of the most famous churches in the world: St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican and Saint Mark’s Basilica in Venice. What an honor to begin and end your tour singing during Mass at these phenomenal venues! To complement the program, we suggest a series of joint performances with local Italian choirs in small towns and villages of Umbria and Tuscany where audiences are most substantial. You will sing in churches which, although less well-known to Americans, are undeniably architectural jewels with superb acoustics. The enjoyment will continue after the performance at receptions offered by the host choirs. And let us not forget the exceptional sites to be seen along the way: Rome, Pisa, Florence, Spoleto, Siena, Venice and more.

Classical Antiquity Study Tour

Take your students to the source. History will come alive while visiting the actual places depicted in their text books. It is possible to see an abundance of Ancient Roman sites in one week’s time. You will of course visit the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, Coliseum, and the Roman necropolis found under St. Peter’s Basilica. Take a day trip from Rome to Ostia Antica to view the archaeological site of the harbor city of Ancient Rome. The day’s activities can also include a visit to the ancient catacombs. We suggest you include a few days on the Amalfi Coast with visits to ancient sites while enjoying the spectacular beauty of the area. Journey back nearly 2000 years as you walk the streets of Pompeii, preserved under a blanket of ash following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. On the Isle of Capri, you will see the Villa Jovis, built by the Emperor Tiberius, and considered one of the best preserved Roman villas in Italy.
